Real Talk, Real Healing, Real Resources
(AKA: What June Brought In... and What July’s About to Unleash)
Hey hey,
We made it through another month, and you know what that means: it’s time for a little roundup of the reflections, rants, and realness I’ve shared lately. Whether you’re here for mental health resources, cultural commentary, or just some compassionate (and occasionally spicy) truths — I got you.
This month, I tackled some tender and tough topics on the blog, and I want to make sure you didn’t miss a thing:
📌 1. “Why Many Therapists Don’t Take Insurance (And What That Means for You)”
Ever wondered why your therapist hit you with that “private pay only” policy? It’s not about greed, it’s about survival in a broken system. This blog unpacks the behind-the-scenes reality, plus how it impacts your care and access.
📌 2. “They Cut Job Corps—And They Cut Hope With It (I need to vent!)”
This one’s raw. It’s part grief, part outrage, and a whole lot of advocacy. I share my unfiltered response to the devastating cutbacks and what it means for marginalized youth who rely on these programs for a shot at something better.
📌 3. “To the Dads Who Show Up—Happy Father’s Day”
Not your average Father’s Day fluff. This post is a heartfelt salute to the men who do the real work of fatherhood — showing up with love, accountability, and presence.
📌 4. “‘Is This Normal?’: What You Need to Know About Domestic Violence (Even If You’re Not Sure You’re Experiencing It)”
Sometimes the most dangerous things don’t look like we expect them to. This blog is for anyone who’s ever felt confused, isolated, or unsure if what they’re going through “counts.” (Spoiler: Your feelings always count.)
🧠 Coming Next Week:
Mark your calendar (or at least your mental tabs). Next week, I’m dropping “Am I Broken or Just Traumatized?” — a blog post that challenges the narrative that trauma makes us defective. Because what if you’re not broken... just human?
💚 In Other Beautiful News…
I’m incredibly honored that my work was spotlighted by Inclusive Therapists for Juneteenth! They shared my video on Black joy — a reminder that liberation is not just resistance, but celebration.
🎥 Watch the video and soak in some joy:
(And to you, if you’ve ever shared or supported my work — thank you. You help make this healing work sustainable.)
📅 Looking Ahead to July…
Next month, I’ll be diving into more mental health education — spotlighting tools and interventions that actually help ease emotional pain (not just manage symptoms). Think of it as your summer starter pack for feeling better.
So stay tuned, stay hydrated, and stay gentle with yourself.
With warmth and solidarity,
